Good decor, bad dog.

Someday, I will share with you the story of how D and I came to be.  The condensed version is: His cousin, Amber, is one of my besties.

Amber called the other day to ask if we wanted to grab dinner because she’d gotten us something for the house.  So we met up for delicious Mexican food and she presented us with this:

Amber: I thought it looked like you.

Me: It TOTALLY looks like me, thanks!

Amber: I also got you this, because I thought it would be cute to display your corks in the jar.

Me: *glug, glug, glug*

Me: It IS cute!

Amber: You can write the dates on the corks, and if there was a special occasion.

Me: No need to document my lushiness…. ;)

PS – I’m really sorry about the crappy iPhone pics, but Lucifer Toby

reached up with his freakishly long arms and grabbed our camera off the table and proceeded to chew the lens lid and strap to bits, and what was probably the impact of it hitting the tile floor broke the lens.  It won’t rotate or focus and there’s something rattling around in there.

RIP

Anyone know if lenses are fixable, or am I buying a new one?  Who wants a free demon dog??

  1. Oh no!

We’ve come home twice now and found the camera in the middle of the floor. The first time, we think the cat and dog worked together to shove it off the table. Strap gone, but, amazingly, the camera still works with no problems. The second time, I stupidly thought it would be safe on the floor since it was actually in it’s case for once. Mocha (the dog) chewed it out of the case, and proceeded to rip the rubber thing around the view finder off.

Take the lens to a camera store and see what they can do. But… you might be stuck buying a new lens… :(

  2. I’m e-glugging that bottle of wine with my eyes (electronic glugging of pictures of wine will be the next diet craze, just you wait and see!)

In other news… Baby G would have a new dog-skin rug if Toby were a part of our family and pulled such a thing! Bless you and your infinite kindness!

  3. The cork holder is so cute! Looks like a lot of corks will fit in there! ;)

As for the lens, I feel like the repair might end up costing the same or more than a new lens. I agree with Kristen above, look for a used lens or a refurbished one from Nikon. Good luck!

  4. Oh noes! I definitely thought this would be about your pup eating a whole bunch of corks. I could totally relate to that. Hah. But a camera?! Must not like pictures. Huh. Also, have you ever gotten another lens? FYI – some lenses autofocus with the 3000 and some do not. But if you take your lens to get it looked at maybe they can recommend a decent one!

  5. Oh snap. I would be livid if that were my dog+my camera. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the lens fixed, but a word of caution, if it sounds like something broke off you might be looking at a new lens.

  6. I have an overflowing cork collection, lol! I however, document my lushiness, lol! It’s usually a conversation piece (the dated corks, not my questionable alchol intake).

So sorry about your lens! My dog has eaten everything from plastic googly eyes, to a beanbag chair (disater). I don’t have a solution, but I feel for ya girl!

  7. OK….I am laughing so hard right now….poor Toby! Look on the bright side….you have fabulous friends!
BTW….I would love it if you stopped by my blog today because I am hosting an “Impossibility” challenge.
