Breathe

The appraiser came yesterday.

And while we won’t know the actual number for a while, he told us ”It’s done enough for me” and will send the information to the bank.

We feel like we can breathe again!

We’ve still got some details to finish up, and I feel like I’ll be cleaning up construction dust the rest of my days.  But you know what?  Now we can do it on our own time.  We no longer have a scary deadline looming.  We aren’t hemorrhaging money in our rush to finish.  We can breathe.

Last night, for literally the first time in months, we spent time together, the three of us.  D was able to go with me to pick up Junior at my inlaws, instead of staying behind to work.  He sat down for a minute, which looked odd after seeing him in constant motion for so long, and Junior jumped at the chance to blow some bubbles with his daddy.

We ate leftover casserole together and talked of things other than what needs to be done.  D gave Junior his bath, and threw in a sudsy mohawk for good measure.  They were both happy and smiling and my heart exploded on the spot.

We’ve really missed having him around.

I hope that this particular milestone marked a curve in the road, one that faces us west into the sunset of this nightmare.

We’re ready to enjoy the view!

  1. I bet that felt so wonderful to not have deadlines or projects hanging over your head! Well done you two and now you can enjoy it! By the way, that pic of Junior is adorableeeeee! Love his little teefs and happy laughing eyes.

  2. Look at those chompers! That’s a smile that says, “Hey DADDY!! I love seeing you!!”

Glad you can take a breath (and several gulps of wine) finally!

  3. Congrats! That’s great that you guys had time to spend time together. While I’ve never built a house from the ground up, my parents did. My mom told me that I should never do it because the process gave her nightmares for years. So I commend you guys for pouring your hearts into building your dream home.
