What I Got

Any other Sublime fans out there?  No?

Well then, moving on to the point of the post!  What I got!  (looooving you, is what I got… la la la)

In my last post I mentioned that Erin had brought me a boat load of goodies.  And while you all were excited and encouraging about Vintage KC Magazine, you were also curious about my loot.  Which is why we’re bloggy besties.  We understand and encourage each other’s hoarding tendencies.

I heart you.

My brain exploded when she sat this down on the counter.  So much so, that I didn’t even realize that the entire thing was meant for me – vintage magazine rack/goodie container included.  Score!

One of the things I was most excited to get my mits on was a hard copy of her magazine!

It is soooo goooood.

Next was a sweet bowl and saucer I actually won on a giveaway she had on her blog!

The turquoise couldn’t have been more perfect, as it matches several other accessories I’ve got in the kitchen.

I nearly cried when I pulled this out.

My sweet grandpa used to love to do wood working, and he made several varieties of this little guy.  My grandma would paint cute faces on them and they would sell them at local craft shows, or help kids at our church make them in VBS.  This is Junior’s new piggy dinosaur bank.

I grew up with Erin’s husband, who is a real life rock star, and to this day he is probably the most talented and creative individual I’ve ever met in my life.  He made this.

It was featured in the magazine, and now it graces the door above our dining room.  What a perfect daily reminder of what’s most important to us!

I squeaked when I found this guy.

A buffalo!  Erin said, “Wait till you see what his name is!”

A buffalo named Roam!  I died.

Next was this sweet little bowl that she just thought I would like.

And she was right!  It’s in my kitchen as I type this.

And last, but certainly not least, check out this set of napkins!

It’s like the girl is psychic, because I had just told D that I’d like to get a Navajo rug for the living room in these same colors and similar pattern.

I’ve been folding, re-folding, and petting these a lot.  I know they’re napkins, but the idea of wiping BBQ sauce on them doesn’t sit well with me.  Methinks they’re worthy of display somehow.

Erin, I can’t thank you enough!

Any suggestions for the napkins?

  1. Amy, At my mom’s house has an item your grandpa made for the women’t ministries years ago. Denise said he gave one to every woman in the group. It is a wooden pot of gold. Like the dinosaur above except the “gold coins” comes off the top and you can drop coins or candy down in the clear part. My mom always kept hard candy in there and it has always sat on her kitchen counter. I didn’t know Duane made it until just last week. He was awesome!

  2. Get a cool iron rod and clips and they could be a cute dressing for that kitchen window! ;-) I did that with napkins in my kitchen, then you can easily swap them per the seasons or just on a whim!

  3. Ahh it makes my heart explode to know how much you love the gifts and to see what you do with them. That’s why I give gifts. :) I love both the pillow and valance ideas for the napkins!

I kept a triceratops bank for my son and another matching yellow-lined bowl sits on our entry table. I also love being connected that way to awesome people.

For those who cannot or have yet to see Amy’s house in person, let me just tell you it’s so much more way awesome-er in real life, if that’s possible. So proud of you friend!

  4. You can always use them in your bread basket to keep your “buns” warm; however, I do like the valance idea, I think the colors would be fantastic – and you could change them out easily.

  5. Oh man, that song is stuck in my head now, haha!

Those are cute wonderful gifts! Roam the buffalo cracked me up. It’s like he is the unofficial blog mascot and didn’t even know it! The napkins would look great turned into pillows. I’ve never made any, but I’ve read some tutorials and it doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult.

  6. you could turn those sweet ass napkins into a table runner! I don’t know how to sew, so I would use stich witch stuff!

But REALLY what an amazing goody basket! gift baskets are my favorite thing to get and to make as gifts! And that beanie baby and his name! I also died!!

  7. That buffalo named Roam is like the coolest thing evah! And I totally believe Erin in her comment that your house is too cool for school!!! And, seriously, those napkins … what about placemats … if you’re the civilized type that uses placemats. Use a solid fabric in the center and due a border in the napkin fabric maybe??? Or create a bed skirt for the crib for Junior #2. :)

  8. Id frame those napkins. The pattern looks interesting enough, plus cloth in a frame is a little dose of the unexpected. Awesome gifts!!
