A Real Life Home

To say that we have been dreaming about and working toward this house for a long time would be an understatement.  From the moment we got together, we began talking about what we wanted for the future, and a home to raise our little family in was top on the list.

We’d both bounced around quite a bit.  I don’t think I’ve lived in a house longer than two years since I moved out of my parents in college.

D traveled for work and was barely ever at his house.

We wanted it to feel cozy,

 rustic,

 inviting,

 and function well.

It was a long time coming, and we aren’t done yet, but we are thrilled with where we are so far.

 Which is home!

  1. That’s so great that you guys are in a place where you can settle down and make a home together. I think it looks great! I am so jealous of those beams! Gorgeous!

  2. It definitely is all of those things you wanted it to be, and more!! From your previous posts, it sounds like you guys had some bumps in the road during the building process, but I’m glad for you now that you can relax a bit and just enjoy it!

  3. And a truly lovely home it is that you can share (and bore to death) with your kids for so many, many years to come. Oh sure, at first they’ll want to hear about it. Tell me more mommy. Tell me more daddy …

… and then the day will come when they say, “yeah, yeah, we know” …

But then, when they are grown and done with college and starting their lives of their own they will tell their friends and their co-workers and their dates on those first dates about the amazing house their parents built …

    So proud of you two!

    :)
