The Post You’ve All Been Waiting For!

I heard you.

Out there in bloggyville, whispering, wondering, waiting.

When, oh, when will Amy show us her new shower door??

When?

Today, my friends.  Today.

Get out your party hats and Dale Jr coffee mugs.

Because this one is going to be a doozy.

Not.  (Party on, Wayne)

D and I really did agree on almost everything throughout the build.  And we each had one thing in particular we really wanted – I wanted my tub, and D wanted a big shower with dual shower heads.

And now you know what brand shampoo we use.

One lesson learned – if you simply must supersize something, you’re going to pay.

ie: supersized shower door.

Paying for it was the hardest part though, as it turns out.

Now I would rather listen to a CD of Fran Drescher’s laughter than read through how-to instructions, but lucky for me, D is a natural at ciphering them.

And in no time he was measuring, cutting, leveling and drilling.

Honestly, I was surprised by the amount of time it didn’t take to get it installed.  And it is tres better than the temporary shower curtain we had up… flapping in the breeze… sticking to my leg.  Bah!

Here is Junior Vanna White-ing the new door.

~wolf whistle~

And here is the door itself.

My apologies for posting this so early in the day as I’m sure it will most likely be a high point for you.

Yep, it’s all down hill after Amy’s shower door post…. :(

  1. FINALLY !! haha It looks super rad. We let go of a tub to have a bigger shower, which makes me kinda (really) sad. And we didn’t get dual heads (trust I tried) because of the bench we’re putting in. I totally was shaking my head with you about supersizing things & price. Whoops. We need SO much tile. But after seeing yours, I’m thinking maybe we should use big tile, too, to make it easier to install/time/etc. So thanks for that! We built out a wall though so the shower has a ‘normal’ size door (just a single one that will open) to save cost there. But oh, your tub is hurting me. Actually, that whole bathroom is pretty droolworthy. Go buy some fantastic bubblebath and enjoy. YOU DESERVE IT!!!

  2. Nothing hotter than a man doing work you don’t want to do yourself, right? :)
Looks amazing! I’ll be over with my shower cap, bubbles, wine, and rubber ducky after work today… ;)

  3. Looks very similar to ours too. And we did the same thing with the white shower pan. It’s a nice roomy shower, you’re going to love it :) Natural light floods right in because there are no curtains or liners to worry about. From your photos, the trim on your shower door looks black. Am I just seeing things?

  4. They look wonderful!! There’s just nothing that man can’t do, lucky You! Junior gets cuter every single day…Proud Nanny that I am :)

  5. Phew. I can finally sleep tonight.

I love that you quoted Wayne’s world.

Your child’s expressions kill me. Kill me.

Your shower door is very pretty. Manly, if your husband asks.

  6. After having a houseful of guests since you posted this, I’ve been waiting for a quiet moment after they departed to enjoy the shower door party. I’m so glad I did! It’s worth waiting for just to see Junior in his onesy Vanna Whiteing the door!!

P.S. I HATE it when the curtain grabs my legs too – super yucky!!

  7. Amy, it looks awesome! I have a shower that needs doors, it’s in the kids bathroom, and we don’t trust them with a curtain (picture them soaking the entire bathroom), so it’s not being used at all until we can afford the door. A little nervous about installing ourselves – do you think it will be okay? My dh is pretty handy…
