I don’t care if it is 108 degrees out.
White Chicken Chili is always a winner.

D refuses to eat hot soup in the middle of a hot summer. Something about working out in the sweltering heat all day. But I work in an office that runs so cold I keep my space heater on in July. And I wanted white chicken chili. So I made this, and ate it, and declared it yummy in my tummy.

Now let’s talk about rugs.
Navajo rugs are expensive. A prize to anyone who can direct me to some of those suckers on sale.

D accuses me of wanting to cover up all his hard work on the floors. The truth of the matter is I want to mop less and vacuum more.
What do you think? I like the red, but I think something turquise would look killer too. Or should I leave them bald?
~
My mom has these old milk cans that I offered her dollars for, but she blew me off.
Sidenote - my Mom is hilarious. After we moved out of their house and into our own I get a text message that goes “I just pottied with the door open and took my bra off. Free the girls!” Oh, the joys of living without your children.
MOM! HOW MANY DOLLARS FOR YOUR MILK CANS??
I need to do this with them.

Gimme.

Why is it that people keep the a/c on like 68 year round?! I’ve got my fleece on from about 10-4 everyday and the men in the office still complain it’s too hot. Seriously dude? I’m digging a teal rug for your living room! And those milk cans…you need them!
Your mom is hilarious! I totally see where you get it from now.
Hey… I think Missy Herd and I are possibly getting together this upcoming week to do a play date (as long as our kids aren’t the harbingers of disease all at the same time). Do you ever have Tuesday afternoons off? That’s when we were thinking but we could always do a different time, too, if you were interested!
I emailed.
Yes to the rug – blue or red will rock! I haven’t spotted any navajos lately – good luck with the search!
My girls LOVE soup – winter, spring, summer or fall! My hubs makes them black bean soup and they take it to school and the other kids beg for a taste!
Here’s to freeing our girls – I know I’d love your mom!
Kelly
You would. Everybody does!
Two more things for me to hunt for…it’s on! And your mom is the coolest!
OK, so I’m kinda with D on this one. Soup is for fall and winter, but that one does look like a winner.
I think the red or the turquoise would be awesome in this room! The perfect pop of color!
When it’s really hot, I can’t eat anything remotely warm (in fact, I lose my appetite when it’s really hot out) so I’m with D on the soup topic. However, once the temperature is in the low 70′s or below, I’m in!
I like the idea of a rug – it’ll keep the floors looking nice and adds a fun pop of color
We actually have to keep all of our bathroom doors closed even when we’re not using them.. our schnauzer will grab the toilet paper and eat it, right off the roll.
I like the milk container idea. a lot.
I’m A red girl myself but I think turquoise would be fabulous in that room. And I’m a huge fan of th milk can. We have a red one in our front yard
I am just like your mom as I take my bra off the minute I walk in the house. So when we have unexpected “stop by” visitors I have to scramble to get one on!
I would go for teal accents!
HA! A problem I seem to always have too!!
1. REDRUG!
b. Mike is constantly annoyed when I toss my bra at him after freeing the girls when I get home from work.
bullet point. I hope your mom sells you a milk can.
I really enjoyed the formatting of this comment.
Love white chili!
Anytime of year…
I can envision a rug with pops of turquoise — they are hard to find, but you might keep your eyes open for fairs or rodeos. I scored a Navajo horse blanket a few years ago while visiting my parents in TX that way. It hangs on my wall and I love it!
Good luck!
xo Heidi
PS– your mom is a hoot!
Lucky girl!
Red or turquoise would look great in your living room… especially with your accent pillows. I have never understood why people don’t like soup in the Summer. My dad never did but I love it year round. Way to go for fixing you some up when you wanted it! It looks amazing.
So I like the red. Right now when it’s 108 degrees (yikes, I can’t imagine) rugs may seem a little too much. But come the cooler weather, D will be glad there is one there.
As for the milk cans – I need those too. Will have to keep my eye out the next time I’m at a yard sale.
Happy Weekend and stay cool!
Oooh, I love that rug! Nate Berkus was selling a dhurrie rug that’s kind of Navajo-ish. I got an 8 x 10 for $400 (I think) off of HSN back in December. They might be on sale by now!
I’m on my way! Thanks!
I need Hot soup right now as I can barely get these ice cubes to type!! I think Teal/Torquise if my fave. If you ask me, the cans are FREE! If you ask Dad, they cost mucho dollas. So, just go take ‘em…. I Know you are enjoying the “freed girls” as well….Bwahahaha
YES! Thank youuuuu… He probably won’t even realize they’re gone!
Yeah, my freed girls like the new house as much as I do. Heh.
Chili is good anytime of the year. In fact I had chill for lunch today, t was delicious.
And Yay for milk cans!
I want beef chili sooooo bad! But I can’t eat it when it’s this hot, either.
Turquoise.
Tell mom she’s in danger of me adopting you since I have 2 milk jugs in need of make over.
~Bliss~
Whoooooaaaa there Bliss. She’s not up for grabs, but I betcha she would fix up those milk jugs for ya! ;P
Haha! Your mom is hilarious and so are you
Get the rugs! They rock!
I love using my blog as a tool for other people finding me cheaper crap. Obviously, I am no help to you.
Your mom’s text is hilarious. Tell her you’re moving back in if you don’t get a milk can. I AM helpful.
Hahaha! Eat soup and be free! That sounds like a state motto!
Im missing some milk cans…. you know anything about them? Hmmmm?
Jesse and I eat soup all year round, we actually had Tomato Basil for dinner last night! Please share your recipe with me! I love white chicken chili!
