Favorite Things Friday!

It’s Friday!  And our terrible heat wave has broken!  And I am a new woman!

I had the windows open last night and was thoroughly enjoying the breeze whilst sipping my red.  Bedtime rolled around and I thought to myself, “Self.  You should leave the windows open all night long so the house will be so nice and cool and fresh in the morning!  You’re so full of good ideas, self.”

But then I thought, “Self.  Wait just a gosh darn minute.  If the windows are open, the kidnappers won’t have to break any glass to get in, the alarm system won’t realize anything is awry, and Junior will be in Mexico by morning!  Leaving windows open to enjoy the cool country air is the worst idea you’ve ever had!”

Even though we live in a teeny tiny town with an almost non-existant violent crime rate, I still shut and locked them tight and then had nightmares all night about Junior getting yanked through windows.

Moms – is this level of crazy on par?

Now let’s pretend I’m not insane for a minute, and talk about things I like.  Because what’s better than yammering on about the inclinations of a loon?  Plus, I know you’re really, really intersted in stuff I like.

Like boots.

Because it’s almost September, which can almost count as fall.

The other day I was piddling around in the basement while D was working on building our dining room table.  (Oh yeah, it’s in the works, and it’s going to be killer.)  And I uncovered my long lost scentsy warmer thingy!  The good news is that I still had a bunch of my favorite smells.  The bad news is that one of them has been discontinued.

NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!

In further news, it turns out that almost every single one of the fragrances I own are from the “Scentsy Man” collection.  I don’t think that would surprise anyone.  Least of all, me.

Now check out this pumpkin.

That is made from a dryer vent, you guys.  Don’t think I won’t be making one of my own.  Don’t even think it.

  1. This post just made me laugh for so many reasons. You are not crazy with the windows. The kidnappers are precisely why, we also, do not leave our windows open at night. To many cray cray people out there. :)

  2. Omigosh I thought I was the only crazy one. Liam’s storm window fell off this summer and I was freaking out that there was only one glass barrier between him and the kidnappers. Glenn reassured me that we would hear them opening our old crappy windows and I reassured him that there are very handy silent glass cutting gadgets out there. His response? “Barring Tom Cruise breaking into our son’s window…I think it’ll be fine.” Whatever. ;)

  3. I totally think like that and I don’t have kids yet. I fear how my paranoia will esculate when that happens….

Love pretty much everything you posted about today! I really want to get a pair of brown leather boots like that- gorgeous!! And I already pinned that pumpkin- genius!

    Have a great weekend Amy!

ps- that boy of yours is GORGEOUS! His big blue eyes are adorable!

  4. If I had a baby, especially one as cute as Junior, I’d definitely be the same way as you! :)

And those boots are awesomeeee. I can’t wait for boot-wearing weather!!

PS-I haven’t seen your dining table yet, and I already know I want it. K thanks, bye.

  5. Haha I have similar crazy break-in thoughts! Can’t wait to see your table! I’m sure it’s going to beat the crap out of the dining table we’re trying to build right now cause ours is looking a bit picnic table-esque at the moment :/

  6. We haven’t slept with our windows open in 7 1/2 years, coincidence…I think not! We also procured a security system, motion sensing lights, and locks on the basement door about that same time. So I guess we are both crazy! Have I mentioned that I am so glad you finally agreed to have a baby!?

  7. This made me laugh! I am the same way! So is my hubby, in fact, I think he’s worse than me… We lock everything. My parents laugh at us because we live in the middle of the country with a dog, and lovely neighbors, and yet, we lock down the house and cars like theives are camping in our bushes, just waiting for us to go to bed with a window open!

  8. So I don’t even have a kid and I hate leaving the windows open because I’m afraid someone will break in. Before we leave the house (for at least a couple of hours) I run around shutting and locking EVERY window. It’s a sickness.

Also, I am super excited about Fall. I want to wear plaid, stockings, and boots. Ooo.. I can’t wait!
