Boo!

A few weeks ago, I showed you a steal of a deal I got on a driftwood mirror from Kohl’s.

They really sucked me in with that deal – let me tell you what.  The project I’m sharing today also started on a Kohl’s clearance rack.

But between my driftwood mirror post, and the one I’m showing you today, I heard from Kohl’s who were kind enough to offer you, my readers 10% off at Kohls.com!  Just use the code UBLOGTEN.  It’s good till midnight tonight, so happy shopping!

As for my project, I’d been keeping an eyeball out for a tray, thanks to Karah and her “Eat, drink, and be married” tray.

And lo and behold, but what did I spy?!

Yes, that’s a glass of merlot.  I’m really not so lushy as it seems – this was the same glass I was on when making the punkins.  No!  Really!!

And on the back ‘o the tray?

Yesssss……

It’s no secret that I’m dying for fall to get here, and already in a Halloweeny mood, so that’s the direction I wanted to go with my tray.  I got some stencil letters at Walmart and taped them on.

And using the same can of Rustoleum in “cinnamon”, I started to spray.

Whoooooops.

Plan B.

I left the bottom black, reattached the letters, and traced them instead.

I started out just using a sharpie, but it didn’t cover quite as well as I wanted, so I switched to a ceramic pen I had on hand, and it worked much better.

The spots I added…. because I had to.  I was recklessly shaking my pen to get the juice flowing and it caused some splatter.  Whooooops again.

A couple bumps in the road, but I’m happy with the final product.  And so is “Thing” from the Addams Family who came over to Vanna White for me.

  1. Mistake, or no mistake…I actually LOVE the black splatter on it! I think it really finishes the tray off perfectly. You are just so darn crafty. ;)

And you are making me want fall more and more!!

  2. Love it!! I think the splatter, even thought it was an oops extra, makes it look really cute!

I’m with the others who are living in denial of fall but for a different reason: fall means winter and I HATE midwest winters…

  3. Ok, I’m with you now. I was trying to enjoy the last bit of summer but I’m officially OVER. SUMMER. I started on my fall front porch and now I’m itching to carve punkins! Your tray is great and is getting me even more excited for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Pie, Wool Sweaters, Leather Jackets, Jeans….I could go on.
