I’m Baaaack!

Did you even know I was gone?  I was in Colorado, yo!

I had a work conference, but took my boys with me to play.

Through the week, we stayed at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.  Absolutely gorgeous.  This is the view from our room.

We lucked out with the weather and on the first day took Jr to one of my favorite spots on the planet – Garden of the Gods.

The next day was a full day of work for me, but D took Jr to the zoo.

That night we swam.  (BELLEH!!!)

On Friday, I was done by noon and this is the sight that greeted me when I got back to the room.

Let’s zoom in.

Bahahahaa!!

After that, we headed straight for the mountains, where my family has a cozy cabin they are nice enough to let us stay in.

It’s on a creek.

With a bridge.

And we had a great time.  :)

On the drive home, one of us (not me) had the brilliant idea of hosting Thanksgiving.  In 10 days.  I currently have one dining room chair.  And I’ve never made a turkey.  BUT, it’s the first big holiday in the new house, and all the family that is coming is bringing something delicious, plus D informed me he’ll be in charge of the turkey.  He was looking up recipes last night, the likes of which induced curse words about how amazing this turkey is going to be.  Apparently we are in for a real treat!  ;)

And now I’m off to find some tablescape inspiration.  (Have you ever watched Sweet Genius?  I cannot say “inspiration” without hearing him… “inspeeeeraaatiun”.)

  1. OK, first off….Sweet Genius rocks! I love Ron Ben Israel. He’s creepy but so fun at the same time. Next…Jealous! It looks so pretty where you were at. Garden of the Gods I haven’t been but it looks beauitful. Hopefully someday. Third, laughing at D’s pic. Not only for the hat and sunglasses but also for the fact he’s got an iPhone in his hand and a tablet in his lap! Third again…or fourth? Junior is just awwwwwww! And threeve, good luck with the Thanksgiving but it sounds as if you’ve got a good situation with everyone else doing the food and you just provide the space!

  2. Whoa, Thanksgiving is only in 10 days! Wow how time has flown…

It looks like you guys have a wonderful time! I’ve never been to Colorado but I have heard I HAVE to see the Garden of the Gods is I ever do go.
And I know I have said it a millions times but I will say it again – Junior is adorable!!

  3. He is just so cute… in every picture! I’m so glad y’all had a great time and that you got to hang out with them this weekend.
I hope the Thanksgiving planning goes well. We are going to have small get together at our house this year. I guess I should get to work on planning to!

  4. Looks like you guys had so much fun! I too am hosting my first Thanksgiving in our new house. With zero dining chairs haha At least you have me beat by one! Now let’s put our heads together and come up with something that doesn’t look last minute :)

  5. Since when did D go back to glasses and a stache?

My D is in charge of the birds for Thanksgiving too. Injecting two with a rub and putting them on the grill.

    Bliss

  6. This looks like so much fun. Can you believe I’ve never been to Colorado? It’s disgusting. Ryan and I are talking about going next summer.

Ummmm… I think you should participate in Dare to DIY. It will help get you ready for your first Thanksgiving to host. =)

  7. Seriously, that belly! Oh goodness!

Oh, my husband volunteered us to host thanksgiving when Jack was three WEEKS old. I was livid, and I told him that he needed to undo what he had done – but no…everyone descended on our house three weeks after our first baby was born.

Im not still angry about it. Ahem.

ANNNNNYWAY – hope it goes well!

  8. I missed you! Love the photos, love being invited for Thanksgiving, can’t wait to try D’s bird! I love Sweet Genius and that’s how I now pronounce it too, lol
